National Science Day celebrated at Chitkara University, Rajpura: A Day of Innovation and Inspiration

February 28 marks the celebration of science, as we come together to honor the marvels of innovation and discovery by Dr. C.V. Raman. This year, a 5-day Science Carnival was organized to mark National Science Day at Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), along with NCSTC and DST, Government of India. Among the highlights of events were various science talks, competitions designed to showcase the creative prowess of our budding scientists, Science fun activities, visits by school students to campus and hands-on scientific workshops. From poster-making to best-out-of-waste model-making, participants had the opportunity to unleash their imagination and ingenuity, presenting their innovative ideas to the world. The event was coordinated by Dr. Satyam Kumar Agrawal, Professor, CURIN, under the aegis of Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab.

As part of the Science Day festivities, a series of engaging student competitions and enlightening talks were organized at the campus. Dr. S.N. Panda, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), shed light with a talk on ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’ emphasizing the importance of leveraging the knowledge of technology and practices for the sustainable development of India. As India embraces the spirit of indigenous innovation and technological advancement, the science carnival at Chitkara University, Rajpura, aims to inspire and empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. Through collaborative efforts and inclusive initiatives, the celebration seeks to propel India towards a future of scientific excellence and societal progress. On one day, students from Govt. High School, Natian, visited the university campus and had a glimpse of various labs and presented their posters. Further hands-on scientific workshops were also organized at the Centre for In vitro Studies and Translational Research (CVSTR), CURIN, for scholars.

The festivities culminate in a grand valedictory ceremony, presided over by Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University, where participants were honored and prizes were given. Among the highlights of the events were various competitions designed to showcase the creative skills of our budding scientists. Ms. Monika Sharma won the 1st Prize in poster making; Ms. Sushmita Jain won the 1st Prize in declaration, Mr. Karunya Gupta won the 1st Prize in model making and Ms. Anchal Dogra won the 1st Prize in science quiz.
