UGC Letter of 12(B)

Chitkara University has been granted the prestigious University Grants Commission (UGC) 12(B) status, which recognizes the university’s high standards of education and research. The recognition is based on the recommendation of an expert committee that evaluated the quality and standards of the university.

The UGC 12(B) status makes the university eligible for receiving grants from the UGC for varied academic and research activities. This will provide a significant boost to Chitkara University’s research initiatives and infrastructure development, as well as help in attracting and retaining talented faculty members and students.

Recognition of “Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC)” By CPCSEA, MoFAHD

The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) of Chitkara University, Punjab is recognized & registered with the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), a statutory Committee, established under Chapter 4, Section 15(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 of Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

Chitkara University, Punjab through its sponsoring trust “Chitkara Educational Trust”, is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisations (SIROs) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under the Scheme on Recognition of Scientific and Industrial Research Organisations (SIROs), 1988. The recognition will entitle the SIRO to receive such administrative support from the DSIR, Ministry of Science & Technology as may be required on issue to promote or encourage scientific research Activities at university.

Recognition of the Ethics Committee Relating to Biomedical and Health Research with the National Ethics Committee Registry for Biomedical and Health Research (NECRBHR), Department of Health Research (DHR)

Chitkara University, Punjab has received the authorization for its Institutional Bioethics Safety Committee (IBSC) from the department of biotechnology (DBT) with the UIC number CHIT170220201218. This recognition will be helpful for accomplishing the research projects and activities related to recombinant DNA technology under the guidelines prescribed by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology. The purpose of these guidelines is to provide guidance to organizations in compliance with “Rules for the manufacture, use/import/export, and storage of hazardous microorganisms/ genetically engineered organisms or cells, 1989” (hereinafter referred as Rules, 1989) notified by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (3) of rule 17 of the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019, the designated authority in the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, recognized and permitted Institutional Human Ethical Committee (IHEC) of Chitkara University, Punjab to perform the duties of ethics committee as specified in Chapter–IV of the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019
