Dr Pankaj Kumar and his PhD student Ms Vandna Sharma (from Liquid Crystal Nano Physics Research Laboratory, CURIN, Chitkara University, Punjab) presented their research work in the 27th International Liquid Crystal Conference (ILCC-2018) held in Kyoto, Japan from July 22-27, 2018. ILCC is the largest academic biennially meeting in the field of liquid crystals (LCs). ILCC-2018 was organized by the Japanese LC Society and Science Council of Japan under the auspices of the International LC Society and sponsored by Dai Nippon Printing Co. Ltd., DIC Corporation, Japan Display Inc., JNC Corporation, JSR Corporation, LG Display Co. Ltd., Merck Performance Materials Ltd., Nissan Chemical Corporation and ZEON Corporation etc. There, 747 participants as eminent scientists and researchers from 38 nations promoted interchanges and gave new dimensions to the research acumen in the field of LCs and other related areas through various appearance including plenary lectures, invited talks, oral and poster presentations. Thus, ILCC-2018 provided a forum to academicians, researchers and technologists to not only assess the current status of these technologies but also to steer them towards a more effective utilization. Dr Kumar and Vandna symbolized Chitkara University by presenting two research papers in the conference. Additionally, Vandna Sharma got financial grant from SERB DST (Gov. of India) under the scheme of International Travelling Support (ITS) to attend ILCC 2018 at Kyoto, Japan.
