OBJECTIVES:

The vision and mission of the project are to obtain the state of art power conversion efficiency from the latest technology, i.e., PERC Si solar cells to improve the Indian PV standard. Following are the objectives to achieve the same:

  • Design, comprehensive study and calibration of fabrication feasible conventional PERC and POLO contact-based PERC Silicon solar cell using Athena, Victory Process and Atlas device simulation tool to achieve state of the art efficiency.
  • Further analysis and optimization of front and back surface passivation will be done; here new technique, i.e., charge plasma induced back surface field will be generated in PERC solar cell to prevent back surface recombination. Metal with different metal work function will be applied in the space between the interdigitated back electrode. By doing so, charge plasma induced region can be formed with the thickness equal to Debye length. A comparative study will be done for conventional PERC cell and charge plasma induced back surface field passivated PERC cell.
  • Designing of flat, wrinkle and wrinkle with the fold (composite) surface-based front surface for the silicon wafers with the help of process simulation tools.
  • The amalgamation of optimized wrinkle and composite surface to the PERC cell to improve the conversion efficiency of the device. The optimized composite surface will be introduced to charge plasma induced back surface field-based PERC cell design (achieved in phase 2) and further comprehensive study will be done for the photovoltaic performance of the device.
  • Simulation design of perovskite and PERC silicon based tandem solar cell to minimise the losses and achieve more than single junction efficiency.
