Dr Vandna Sharma is PhD in Physics and has more than six years of research experience in the field of liquid crystals technology and related areas. She has successfully completed DST INSPIRE Fellowship project (August 24, 2015-August 23, 2020) on August 11, 2020. She has published various research articles in different peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Materials Science, Journal of Molecular Liquids, Journal of Molecular Structure, Physica B: Condensed Matter Physics, Liquid Crystals, Micron etc. As well as, several research papers have been presented in various International and National conferences. She visited to abroad to present her research work in the conferences for core field of liquid crystals such as XXII Conference on Liquid Crystals – Chemistry, Physics and Applications (CLC’2018), September 17-21, 2018, Poland and 27th International Liquid Crystal Conference (ILCC), July 22-27, 2018, Japan. Dr Sharma is also a recipient of various research awards; among them two prestigious awards are Young Scientist Award by Punjab Academy of Science and Dewan Jawahar Lal Memorial Prize by Indian Liquid Crystal Society.

  • Electro-optic, thermo-optic & morphological analysis of polymer dispersed liquid crystal to prepare smart windows
  • Dielectric studies of liquid crystal and polymer dispersed liquid crystals
  • Alignment control of liquid crystal molecules in pure liquid crystal systems and liquid crystal-polymer composite systems
  • Excellence in handling of instruments like POM, DSC, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, LCR Meter, Digital Storage Oscilloscope, He-Ne Laser, Spin Coating Unit, and lots of other small measuring instruments like UV curing chamber, Frequency generators, Vacuum oven, Lock in Amplifier etc
  • Liquid crystal technology including normal/reverse mode polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs), dichroic dyes and nanoscale particles in liquid crystal (LC) and LC-Polymer systems, cholesteric liquid crystals (LCs), blue phase LCs with their applications in display devices, smart windows, light shutters, photonics and photovoltaic solar cells
