System and method are provided for monitoring a first computing device.5 According to the method, a set of attributes pertaining to location of the firstcomputing device and a second computing device associated with a user arereceived. The second computing device then gets associated with one of theplurality of nodes based on the location of the second computing device. Each ofthe plurality of nodes is associated with a corresponding threshold distance10 between the first computing device and second computing device associated withthe user. Upon association of the second computing device with one of theplurality of nodes, it is determined whether the first computing device is within athreshold distance corresponding to the associated node from the secondcomputing device. An alert is transmitted to the user when the first computing15 device is not within the threshold distance.
