A method and a system are provided for facilitating secure routing of data packets in awireless sensor network. In an embodiment, the method facilitates assigning a first trust valueto each of a plurality of sensor nodes in the wireless sensor network based on a thresholdvalue. A second trust value of each of the plurality of sensor nodes is determined. The secondtrust value is indicative of a power requirement for maintaining a transmission rate of the datapackets. The assigned first trust value of each of the plurality of sensor nodes is compared toeach of the determined second trust values of the corresponding plurality of sensor nodes.Further, in response to determination of a negative deviation of the comparison of at least oneof a sensor node, declaring the at least one of the sensor node as a malicious sensor node.
