The present disclosure pertains to a monitoring and alerting system for water5 source. The system enables in monitoring water in water tank, where the systemincludes a first set of sensors, and a second set of sensors to sense one or morewater parameters, an image acquisition unit to capture images of water tank, adisplay unit, and a controller. The sensed one or more parameters and images aretransmitted to the control unit, and the control unit extracts and analyzes received10 parameters and images, and correspondingly generate set of warning signalswhich are transmitted to a display unit and one or more mobile computing devicesthrough a communication module. The system facilitates in determining switchingon time for geyser or similar heating element as per sensed temperature by thesecond set of sensors.
