The present invention relates in general to phytosomes and more specifically to phytosomes ofFicus religiosa and a process for preparation thereof. The phytosomes of F. religiosa exhibitgood consistency, better diffusion and excellent antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobialphytosome of Ficus religiosa have a vesicle size in the range from 6.0 to 7.0 ?m and anentrapment efficacy in the range from 85% to 95%. The phytosome comprises active component10 of F. religiosa in the range from 60 to 70 ?g/ml.
