Makers’ Lab Larva

Ground, Floor Turing Block, Chitkara University

As the name indicates the Makers’ Lab Larva at Chitkara University has been set-up to provide opportunity to first year engineering students to work on actual hardware projects. Objective of this lab is to give hands-on experience to engineering students from Day 1. The lab maintains a good inventory of hardware tools and components that are used by students for building their projects under the guidance of dedicated and specialised staff. Makers’ Lab Larva at Chitkara University is fully equipped with latest equippents like Laser Cutting Machine, Arduino, Radial Drill Machine and Chop Saw machine.

Laser Cutting Machine

The maker lab is fully equipped with Laser cutting machines using laser technology to help students create stand out projects. Paper/wood is one of the most common materials processed by laser technology, as well as a common material for design and technology classes. Everything from chopping boards to signage and displays can incorporate the material, which gives wide scope for students to make the most of the material and be creative.

Arduino

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs – light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. In makers lab, students use the Arduino of different specifications and got hand-on experience.

Radial Drill Machine

The expansion of prototypes and models is a must in research before they are tested. These designs include; new engines, flywheels, gear boxes, transmission lines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, car bodies, chassis, equipments, tools just to mention a few. The development of these models before subsequent testing and redesign requires extensive drilling. The radial drill play significant role and perform heavy duty boring on large work pieces. The radial and worktable drill allows students to cut holes at diverse angles and deepness with precision.

Chop Saw Machine

Metal/wood chop saws are typically used to make cross-cuts on metal/wood materials. Student are being trained to handle and use of Chop Saw machine. In maker labs, students , identify and describe all controls, adjustments, and functions of the chop saw. they learnt under the guidance of trainer about the Correctly setup and adjust the saw for all types of required cuts.
