Automation Lab

The Automation lab is equipped with industry-standard Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), enabling students to gain hands-on experience in programming, testing, and applying automation solutions. These PLCs allow learners to develop and implement control strategies used in modern industrial settings, enhancing their practical skills and technical proficiency. To provide a comprehensive understanding of automation systems, the lab includes various sensors, motors, pneumatic systems, and actuators. These components simulate real-world industrial automation processes, giving students the opportunity to experiment with different configurations and understand how automated systems function in real time. The Centre of Excellence also features simulation software and diagnostic tools that enable students to design, test, and troubleshoot automation systems.

Objectives
  • Provide practical exposure to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for automation, including programming, troubleshooting, and real-time implementation
  • Develop skills in designing and implementing automated control systems for industries like manufacturing, packaging, and assembly lines using PLCs
  • Enable students to understand the integration of PLCs with various sensors, motors, and actuators to control industrial processes efficiently.
  • Train individuals to optimize automation systems using PLCs to improve process efficiency, reduce human errors, and increase productivity in industrial applications.
Outcomes
  • Produce industry-ready professionals proficient in PLC programming, industrial automation, and control system integration.
  • Foster innovation by enabling students and professionals to develop new automation solutions, optimize processes, and implement smart manufacturing techniques.
  • Contribute to the adoption of Industry 4.0 practices, improving efficiency, reducing downtime, and enabling data-driven decision-making in automation.
  • Establish partnerships with industries to provide hands-on training, internships, and real-time project exposure for students and professionals.
