The present disclose antihypertensive and anticoagulant effect of methanolic fruit extract of Cordia myxa in Deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) salt induced hypertension. Oral suspension of fruit Cordia myxa at concentration of 400 mg/kg in rat (equivalent to human dose oral of mg/kg) for 5 weeks once daily on hemodynamic parameters like systolic BP (SBP), diastolic BP (DBP), mean arterial pressure (MAP), cardiac hypertrophy and oxidative stress, serum nitrate level, aortic superoxide anion generation were studied and showed positive results. For anticoagulant action of Cordia myxa, prothrombin time was calculated and it produced prolonged prothrombin time in a concentration dependent manner. Cordia myxa fruit extract dose dependently and significantly (p<0.005) attenuates hypertension induced oxidative stress parameters. The methanolic extract of the fruit is given either in capsule or tablet form.
