The present disclosure relates to an apparatus (100) for monitoring motion of asubject, the apparatus includes a frame (102) configured with a cushion adapted forholding the subject, one or more walls are configured on side portion on the frameand first one or more sensors (104) configured to generate a first set of signalspertaining to the motion of the subject. A processor (106) operatively coupled with10 the one or more sensors, the processor configured to receive, from the one or moresensors, the first set of signals; and process the first set of signals to extract a valuefor the motion of the subject, wherein, the processor (106) is configured to adjustthe walls on the side portion on the frame at a predetermined position, thepredetermined position determined as being required to protect the subject from15 injury.
